Dario Cannizzaro D About

Dario Cannizzaro is an Italian-Irish writer and director working across film, longform, and audio.

Dario Cannizzaro

He is Head of Story at True Story Studios, the boutique development company he runs with screenwriter David Aaron Cohen (Friday Night Lights, The Devil's Own). He is also the author of the best-selling urban fantasy novel Dead Men Naked.

His scripts have gone to the Austin Film Festival as a Semifinalist and a Quarter-Finalist, and have been optioned for production. His short film Trigger Warning screened internationally, from Rio de Janeiro to Tokyo. His ground-breaking audio dramas Strati and The Secret Seas of Puglia, created in collaboration with the incredible Sound Designer Philippe Gozlan, were commissioned by the Italian Cultural Authority and the Puglia Region (produced by Machineria Audio).

He writes about road trips with Death, Secret Societies that hide Pandora's vase, Alien orbs twisting time, and poems found in the dark cracks of the pavement. Often with dark humour, and (almost) always with a philosophical spin. Reared on Camus, Jung, Nietzsche, he ended up reading Kripal, Vallée and Pasulka, and he is drawn to the weird that reveals the truth.

Before writing full time Dario has worked as a longshoreman, dish washer in a pizzeria, socks salesman, book delivery guy, grocery store clerk, electrician, traveling salesman, and Apple Engineer.
